Some afterthought of Bayern vs. Chelsea

Actually, Chelsea win it in a very ‘Italian’ (i.e. defensive) way. It’s not about how ‘negative’ the football is, but how effective when it attacks. Barcelona defend in their own way, by keeping the possession. However, I don’t think any other teams defend without the ball can be label as ‘negative.’ Football is playing by man, so we should keep open-mind with every possibilities.

Italian national team in 1994 and 2006. Internazional Milan in 2010. Chelsea in 2012, managed by Robert Di Matteos. They all won something by playing their football.

Proper celebration by proper David Luiz. Apparently fully-prepared for this.
The only thing I don’t understand is: you guys still have time to collect the net, don’t you? Pique already showed how to do this. I think it would be a valuable addition to the museum in Stamford Bridge.

Just look at those long bookshelves- so many books, but no sign of deformation.

I envy him.

UEFA Euro U-21 Champion!

Congratulations!

Hats off to Iker Muniain for showing his support to Basque identity. Being a Nafarroan himself, he carried a ikurrina in celebration.

Best of the 2010-11 Season: La Liga

  • Best player: Cristiano Ronaldo

I really don’t like the “Messi v.s. CR7” (or “CR7 v.s. Messi”, based on which paper you read) media campaign. But Cristiano Ronaldo kept his good form through out the season and helped Real Madrid in many occasions. And that deserves some recognition.

    • Best young prospect:  Antoine Griezmann

The candidates in this department are all making progress in the season- Mikel San Jose is solid in back-four and already established himself as a penalty-specialist in Athletic Bilbao; Thiago Alcântara has several first team experience now. However, the most consistent young player is Antoine Griezmann in Real Sociedad. Still only 20, Griezmann is already the corner-taker in La Real. His performance didn’t go unnoticed, as report suggests that Damien Comolli is interested in him for a very long time.

    • Best coach

Manual Preciado, who stood up against the media campaign of Mourniho and grabbed an away-win at Bernabéu, kept Sporting Gijón save in Primera for this season. That’s an incredible record for a club with piles of debt and not paying salary to player since January.

    To be continue…

Where is my next trophy, then?

    20110315 Barcelona 0-0 Deportivo

It’s not the usual Barcelona, actually. More like a Barcelona B. Six teams are trying very hard to avoid relegation now. Personally I would like to wish them good luck, but it’s impossible. Someone got to relegate to the Segunda- the wasteland of Spanish football.

Because of the outstanding atmosphere, I hope all Basque sides can stay in the Primera. It will be pretty boring without them.
